Essential Oils, Laughter and a Coffee Morning for Hospice

Thursday night last, September 19th, flew by for the Ramblers in a haze of laughter and banter, blended together by the aroma of essential oils.

The Bowen Technique Workshop demonstration given by Mary Loftus, introduced us briefly to the seven essential oils: Lavender; Peppermint, Tee Tree, Eucalyptus, Lemon, Frankincnse and Rosemary, which are used to improve both mental and physical health.

Mary then demonstrated the Bowen Therapy on the many willing volunteers, both male and female.

This is a holistic technique that works on the soft connective tissue of the body, to relieve sinuses, dizziness/vertigo, etc., helping the body remember how to heal itself.

Although not a volunteer for any of the above: I did come into my own; as I had my photograph taken, demonstrating the benifits of relaxing in a rather posh and expensive chair.

In retrospect; I feel that maybe I have not done the chair justice at all, because as of now; I have not come face to face with our portrait......the chair and I.

Thursday September 26th was the designated date for the National Hospice Coffee Morning Fundraiser.

Our local event was hosted in Moygownagh Community Centre. Many of our Rambling House Group, together with parishioners in general; came out to donate to a worthy cause, which affects so, so many families, not just locally or nationally but on a global scale too. Those in attendance enjoyed jovial company, nice coffee and tasty treats.

Bewleys Big Coffee Morning for Hospice was established by the Coffee consortium in 1992.

Bewleys lend it's support as the events sole fundraiser; where much needed financial support is generated for local palliative and home care assistance across Ireland.

As the slogan goes:

Every Cup Counts!
